David Bancroft is the chef/owner of Acre Restaurant, which he opened in August of 2013 as a joint venture with family and close friends. David is a self-taught chef, farmer, and forager. who tends to three on-site gardens and reinterprets the rich heritage of Alabama cuisine. Acre is wrapped in edible landscapes that create the delicious, daily-changing restaurant menu. All the heirloom produce and fruit grown is harvested, prepared, and then served to patrons immediately. David's commitment to Alabama farming has earned him recognition from Travel & Leisure, Garden & Gun, Southern Living, Taste of the South, ESPN, and USA Today. David also recieved his first nomination from the James Beard Foundation for Best Chef in the South in 2016.
