Steven Devereaux Greene is executive chef of The Umstead Hotel, a Cary, NC hotel lauded for its progressive American regional cuisine. Taste his award-winning food at the Herons restaurant, The Bar & Lounge, and through the Umstead's catering program. Greene is the creative mind behind all of the hotel's food and beverage offerings. His take on contemporary American cuisine utilizes precision and technique to harness the bright flavors of local produce in his classic dishes, made upscale through artful plating. Greene is one of the country’s youngest executive chefs to helm the kitchen of a Forbes Five Star or AAA Five Diamond establishment. He is very much responsible for boosting the Umstead to five star status, since becoming chef de cuisine in 2009.
